Privacy Policy
SiteQuote is an estimating app for contractors, operated by [legal business name] ("SiteQuote", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use our website at sitequote.net and the app at app.sitequote.net (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
The Service is used by two kinds of people:
- Contractors, who subscribe to SiteQuote to price jobs, send quotes and manage customers and leads, along with their team members.
- Homeowners and other customers, who use a contractor's estimate page to get a ballpark price, request a quote, or refer someone to that contractor.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information: your name, email address, phone number and password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and stored in hashed form; we never see them.
- Business information (contractors): business name, address, phone, email, website, license number, logo, rates and pricing settings, warranty documents and quote terms you upload or enter.
- Customer and job information (contractors): the names, contact details, property addresses and project details of your customers, and the quotes you create.
- Estimate and quote requests (homeowners): the project details you enter, such as the service, size, condition and options, plus your name, email and phone when you request an exact quote, and how you heard about the contractor.
- Referrals: if a contractor runs a referral program, the information you submit about yourself and the person you refer, and your agreement to the program terms.
- Early-access list: your name, business, trade, location, email and phone if you join our waiting list.
- Messages to us: anything you send when you contact us.
Information collected automatically
- Device storage: the app keeps your sign-in session and a few preferences, such as a referral code from a link you followed, in your browser's local storage. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers.
- Referral link activity: when someone opens a referral link, we record the click and a one-way hash of the visitor's IP address. The hash is used only to prevent spam and abuse, and is never shown to contractors.
- Server logs: our hosting and infrastructure providers keep standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and time of request, for security and reliability.
Payment information
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We receive limited billing information from Stripe, such as your plan, billing status and the last four digits of your card.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Service: create accounts, calculate estimates, build and send quotes and PDFs, deliver leads and referrals to the right contractor, and support team logins.
- To send service emails: account confirmation and password reset emails, quote emails a contractor sends to their customer, lead, signup and referral alerts to contractors, team invitations, and billing notices.
- To process subscriptions, trials and payments.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
- To improve the Service and develop new features.
- To contact early-access members about availability.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3. Contractors' customer data
When a contractor enters or receives information about their customers, such as quotes, leads and referrals, the contractor decides how that information is used. We process it on the contractor's behalf, to provide the Service to them. If you're a homeowner or customer and have a question about how a contractor uses your information, please contact that contractor directly. We'll help where we can.
Each contractor's data is kept separate from every other contractor's data. A contractor's prices, costs and margins are never shown to homeowners; homeowners see only a price range.
4. How information is shared
We share information only as described here:
- With the contractor you're dealing with: when a homeowner requests a quote or submits a referral on a contractor's page, that contractor and their team members receive it.
- Within a contractor's team: team members can see the business's customers, quotes and leads.
- With service providers who run the Service for us, under contracts that limit their use of the information:
| Provider | What they do |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, file storage and user sign-in |
| Stripe | Subscription billing and payments |
| Resend | Sending emails, such as quotes, alerts and invitations |
| Cloudflare | Website and app hosting |
| Google Fonts | Fonts on the sitequote.net website (your browser requests them from Google) |
| [add any others, e.g. your email provider] |
- For legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our users, the public or SiteQuote.
- In a business transfer: if SiteQuote is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. How long we keep information
We keep account and business information for as long as the account is active. If a contractor closes their account, we delete or de-identify their business data within [90] days, except where we must keep records for legal, tax, accounting or security reasons. Billing records are kept as required by law. Contractors can delete individual customers, quotes and leads at any time.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and update: contractors can view and edit their business, customer and quote information in the app.
- Delete: you can ask us to delete your account and personal information by emailing [privacy@sitequote.net]. Homeowners can also ask the contractor they dealt with to delete their information.
- Emails: account and transactional emails are part of the Service. You can opt out of any marketing emails we send using the link in the email.
- State privacy rights: depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, and to correct or delete it. To make a request, email us; we'll verify your identity before acting on it, and we won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
7. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information:
- encrypted connections (HTTPS);
- database rules that keep each business's data separate;
- hashed passwords;
- access limited to people who need it.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service is meant for adults and businesses. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Where information is stored
We're based in the United States, and information is stored and processed in the United States by us and our service providers.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll notify account holders by email or in the app before they take effect. The effective date at the top shows when it was last updated.
